How Do I Rate You?
I recently ran across a website through one of my Facebook friends, Kate Buck. Given my last post about online reputation management, and my past spews about poor customer service, you’re probably catching on that I can be pretty picky about the kind of treatment or service I receive from a business.
I have a general rule of thumb. Make one mistake, I’ll probably let it pass with a smile because everyone makes mistakes. No biggie. Two mistakes, and I’ll still hold my patience pretty well. Hit 3 or more…well, either you need more training in your line of work (forgivable) or you’re just plain not valuing your customer. If it’s the latter, I’m done.
While I recognize that the lack of good service is many times due to lack of proper employee training, I still want the company to know that I expect them to step up their game. Sometimes I take the time to write a letter to the company. Other times I just tweet about it and hope someone hears my frustration and makes an attempt to fix things.
Getting back to the main topic of interest today, the new site I found via Kate enables me and others to give a business what’s called “props” or “drops” and leave a brief comment about the service received. Brilliant! It’s also a great networking tool since users are rated according to how much they use the site. Get yourself on the leader board and you might draw in a few new Facebook friends or Twitter followers…
I’m happy to recommend and give my props to (drum roll) Social Smack, the easiest way to rate a business online.
(That I’ve seen yet, anyway! If you know of something better you’ll have to educate me…)
This great site is completely addicting and I’ve found myself going to it each night after I’ve spent the day visiting different businesses. Today I stopped at At&t, Borders, and Maurices. I rated them all accordingly on SocialSmack. And the cool part is, it looks like they’re coming out with an iPhone app very soon, which hopefully means I’ll get to rate businesses on the spot!
So now, the ultimate question is, how do I rate YOU?
