Fast Company’s Influence Project

Okay, so maybe I don’t have 50 gazillion followers on Twitter. I don’t even have 1,000 Facebook fans yet. But what I do have is big vision.

Mark Hultgren posted a comment to my Google Buzz this past week that got my attention. He said, “You’re more influential than you think” along with a web link. Hmm, that’s gotta be good, right? I clicked it and found myself at Fast Company’s new Influence Project, which is giving online users the opportunity to have their photo featured in their November issue. A free PR stunt for myself? Well where do I sign up??

I was immediately intrigued by the concept of this project. In fact, I quickly discovered it was a popularity contest. Once I registered, I was provided a unique URL to share with my online followers that would show just how much influence I had on the internet. The best part? My picture would get increasingly larger with each click, and the one who had the most clicks and signups would be awarded the title of 2010′s Most Influential Person Online.

Alright, my competitive senses have kicked in. Like I said, I don’t have all of the followers that the other big-wigs have, but who cares? Within 3 days of joining, I’m already at a ranking of 92 out of over 11,000 participants. SAY WHAT? Yeah, I must be doing something right!

So guess what, now I need YOU. My goal is to be ranked in the top 10 (winning at #1 is a stretch, but that would rock too!) and I really need your help to get there. And it’s so easy to help, all you have to do is click this link:

That’s it! If you register while you’re there, that’s even better and increases my rankings also. Then when people sign up under YOUR referral link, I get credit from them too! It’s really awesome!

Now that you’ve clicked the link, I would be so grateful if you’d share this post on all of your social media profiles. Retweet, buzz, share on Facebook, the whole works. Help me win this thang!! :)

This is really more like a Multi Level Marketing Scheme like Amway … you ranking is highly ranked based on who you get in your downstream. I was curious to see how you were doing since I signed up under you. And so I calculated my percentage of your total. Half of your downstream comes from my sign-ups. The first thing I thought of when I signed up was who is the most popular person I know on twitter and have they signed up yet and will they sign up under me. So far they haven’t. But if they do … I would skyrocket and so would you.

You are moving right up the ladder Mandee! When I checked this morning (around 5 am CDT) you are nipping at my heels. I was at 83 of 11,500+ and you were at 87. Between the two of us, we could very easily make the top 10!

P.S. Love the theme you are using here too! Now I just have to get you introduced to 2GSM.Biz as a member so you can see some real management power at your fingertips ;-)
