Mandee Widrick is a social media consultant, marketing coach and public speaker. She is founder and president of ChargedUp Media, a marketing company specializing in online campaigns and training for businesses around the country.

 

Always an independent spirit, Mandee grew up with a desire to run her own business. When she was little, her mom taught her how to crochet various items such as scarves or pot holders. After some practice, Mandee knew that she needed money for more yarn, so she created a paper “catalog” showcasing drawings of the things she could make to sell to her relatives. She carried that catalog to every family gathering and pitched her “products” to everyone that would listen.

 

As a teenager, she started raising and breeding rabbits to make money to save for her own horse. She raised various rabbit breeds, but focused on the ones that would bring in a higher profit, such as English Angoras. Mandee promoted her rabbit business locally and online through free listings on pet sites and Yahoo, having people travel from as far as Virginia to come purchase one of her baby rabbits. Though she didn’t know it yet, Mandee was already developing marketing skills that would later be put to good use.

 

During this time, Mandee was also dabbling in writing. At age 15, she won $200 in a contest for original poetry and realized she had yet another skillset that could bring in money. When her phase with rabbits ended, she moved on to write for various magazines and publications, becoming editor of small magazine for young equestrians at age 19 (no longer in print).

 

In January 2010, she took her writing to the next level and founded Horse Family – a blog and online magazine for equestrians. Through again experimenting with internet media to promote her business, Mandee discovered a love for marketing, and it wasn’t long before other business owners began to notice and ask for her help. Since Horse Family was still in the early stages and wasn’t yet being monetized, she decided to additionally launch a social media marketing company: ChargedUp Media.

 

As Mandee developed her credibility online and in her hometown, she was soon approached by high schools, colleges and business event planners to share her story and social media knowledge as a speaker. She now works with clients all over the country, helping them launch their online marketing campaigns and speaking to motivate people to pursue their passions as entrepreneurs.  If you would like to book Mandee to speak, click here.

 

In addition to social media, Mandee enjoys living a healthy lifestyle and is currently pursuing a certification in becoming a part-time Zumba® dance fitness instructor to fulfill her lifelong dream to dance. She also owns an APHA mare named Lark (seen in many of Horse Family’s images online) who was a surprise gift for her 16th birthday, and she enjoys casual trail riding in her free time.
